The CONMEBOL Libertadores group stage was drawn

This Friday, in the city of Luque, Paraguay, the CONMEBOL Libertadores Cup group stage was drawn.

The Brazilian Palmeiras, champion of Libertadores in 2020, and the Argentine defense and justice, the winner of South America 2020, will meet in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores 2021.

As a general rule, two teams from the same country should not be in the same area, unless one comes from the preliminary round.

The group stage will start on April 21 and end on May 26, when the tournament will stop to host the Copa América. It will resume in July with the round of 16, the quarterfinals will be in August, the semifinals in September and the final will take place on November 20.

This is the group:

GROUP A: Palmeiras (Bra), Defense and Justice (Arg), University (Per), Guild or Independent Valley

GROUP B: Olimpia (Pair), International (Bra), Deportivo Táchira (Come), Always Ready (Bowl)

GROUP C: Boca Juniors (Arg), Barcelona (Ecu), The Strongest (Bol), San Lorenzo or Santos

GROUP D: River Plate (Arg), Independiente Santa Fe (Col), Fluminense (Bra), Junior or Bolívar

GROUP E: San Pablo (Bra), Racing Club (Arg), Sporting Cristal (Per), Rentistas (Uru)

GROUP F: Nacional (Uru), Catholic University (Chi), Argentinos Juniors (Arg), Atlético Nacional or Libertad

GROUP G: Flamengo (Bra), Liga de Quito (Ecu), Vélez Sarsfield (Arg), Unión La Calera (Chi)

GROUP H: Cerro Porteño (Pereche), Atlético Mineiro (Bra), América de Cali (Col), Deportivo La Guaira (Come)
