Samsung deletes Apple charger after mockery

People were less shocked when Apple confirmed that its iPhone 12 series will ship without a box-loading brick, but some Android OEMs didn’t waste a second before enjoying the fact that their phones include chargers – and much better than Apple has ever done. Now, Samsung is backing up, deleting a post that mocks Apple about removing the charger.

Seen by HTT, a Facebook post from October 13 was deleted from the official Samsung account. This post, illustrated below, boasted that Samsung phones come with the best “cameras, battery, performance, memory and 120Hz displays.” But on top of that, they also include the most basic charger.

This post came out the day the new iPhones were announced, but in the meantime, expectations have changed. There is strong evidence now that Samsung intends to remove the charger included on the Galaxy S21 series, which will debut on January 14.

Apple says it has chosen to take the charger out of the box for the sake of e-waste, saying most users already have a charging brick. It is a noble move and one that is certainly the best in the long run, especially since other OEMs make the same decision. In particular, Apple has decided to include in the box a USB-C cable to Lightning, a cable for which most of its users do not have a charging brick. If Samsung really follows in Apple’s footsteps by giving up the charger, at least it will be with a USB-C to USB-C cable that will work with the chargers that Samsung has included in its latest generations of smartphones.
