Riverside County reported 1,291 new cases since Monday, bringing the total to 151,713

The county has the second largest of the state’s new COVID-19 cases per day at 100K metric. This week, the county has 120.4 new cases per day at 100K, up from 92.2 last week.

Other counties with more than 100.0 of this value are:
- San Bernardino County (149.4) – The highest in the state
- Imperial (118.23)
- Let (104.1)
- Los Angeles (106.0)

Riverside County has the 9th largest number of cases in U.S. counties, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Stay at home Order in the Southern California region (including Riverside County)
The availability of ICU beds in the Southern California region remains below 15% (currently 0.0%), which means that the order of stay at home remains in place.
On Monday, Governor Newsom said the order could be extended beyond its current expiration date of December 28, due to the continuing rise in COVID-19 cases.

Hairdressing salons and hairdressing salons are now closed, restaurants are limited to delivery and delivery, and capacity in retail stores and shopping malls is at a maximum of 20%.
Hotels and accommodation can remain open to support critical infrastructure, as can offices. Schools with exemptions will be able to remain open. Places of worship are limited to outdoor services only.

Deaths and recoveries
Today, the county reported 36 additional deaths through COVID-19. The total number of deaths is now 1,789.

During Tuesday’s board meeting, Saruwatari noted that an analysis of suicides and overdoses in Riverside County showed that suicides had dropped by about 27% in the county, however, overdoses had increased by 19%. Most of the growth is done in the 15-24 age group, Saruwatari told Supervisors. 96% of overdoses are unintentional.
In November, Saruwatari reported that COVID-19 is the third leading cause of death in Riverside County in 2020.
Cancer and heart disease, also the leading causes of death in Riverside County, will increase in 2020, as will COVID-19.
“It’s not that we’re distracting the other leading causes of death and adding to COVID. We’re seeing a real increase in deaths due to COVID,” Saruwatari said.

Riverside County reported 2,058 recoveries on Friday. The number was not updated on Monday.
There are a total of 74,066 recoveries in Riverside County.
hospitalization
As mentioned above, COVID-related hospitalizations increased by 39 patients on Monday, bringing the total to 1,278.

Hospitalizations have continued to increase in the county since November 5. On November 5, Riverside County had 201 hospitalizations. By December 7, hospitalizations had reached 700. On December 16, Riverside County reached 1,000 hospitalizations.
This is the largest coronavirus-related patient in Riverside County in a single date since the beginning of the pandemic. The previous peak before this increase was 550 hospitalizations at the end of July.
The county reported another 21 patients with COVID-19 in the ICU on Monday. This brings the total to 250, the highest number of COVID patients in intensive care since the beginning of the pandemic.
The previous record was set back on July 30 with 167 patients.

This is because the percentage of availability of ICU beds in the county remains at 0%, which means that hospitals are in their growth plans. Hospitals are turning rooms to make room for more patients.
