Possible SpaceX debris is washed ashore in Oregon

It is an unidentified floating object.

Oregon officials are trying to determine if the debris that was washed ashore on Friday afternoon belonged to a SpaceX rocket.

More than 100 SpaceX missiles have been fired into orbit since 2010.

The alleged space junk, a large black cylindrical tube, was washed along Alsea Bay in Lincoln County and reported to local police shortly thereafter, according to a report in The Oregonian.

Authorities who contacted SpaceX said the object could be an “overwrapped composite pressure vessel,” commonly found in spacecraft.

The object was considered unsafe and transported to an unidentified location for further study.

Representatives for SpaceX did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Post.
