How it affects the Indianapolis Colts franchise label

Unsurprisingly, the Indianapolis Colts have not used the franchise label on any of their free agents pending this season, but there have been a lot of teams that have done so, thus having an indirect impact on Chirs Ballard’s plan.

For both players who have been tagged and those who haven’t, Colts have a clearer picture of who they can follow in the free agency, which officially begins on March 17th.

In total, nine players received the franchise label, including some potential targets for the Colts.

Both Allen Robinson and Chris Godwin have been labeled, which is no surprise. What is interesting is the type of edge gutters that will now reach the market.

Top goals for Colts such as Romeo Okwara, Carl Lawson, Yannick Ngakoue, Shaq Barrett and Bud Dupree are all on the market. Colts have enough room for salary to bring in a top player to help them hurry.

There are also players like Jonnu Smith and Marvin Jones who will be available for the Colts if they feel so inclined.

Ballard has the money to make some moves this season and after the franchise label designation came and gone, he can now see a much clearer path if he has to add to the edge or other positions.
