Cyberpunk 2077 is played on the Nintendo Switch via a Google Stage solution

It’s no secret that the game 2077. Cyberpunk, especially on state-of-the-art systems, can be messy, so imagining the game on the Nintendo Switch seems unlikely. But a Nintendo enthusiast has found a way to make the open-world RPG run on the Nintendo hybrid portable console – and the process involves hacking the system to access the Stage.

YouTuber Nintendrew uploaded a video to his channel, demonstrating how he managed to play Cyberpunk 2077 on his pirated Nintendo Switch. He discusses the performance of the game, which seems to run steadily at 720p when disconnected and 1080p when connected to a TV, and how Stage allows users to stream Cyberpunk 2077 to the system. There are a few tools needed, such as a Stadia account and a payload injector, but Cyberpunk 2077 is apparently fully playable on the Switch after downloading and installing a version of Google’s Android operating system.

Once Android is installed, Switch players can download the Stage app from the Play Store and start streaming Cyberpunk 2077. Both Joy-Con and Pro controllers are compatible with Cyberpunk 2077, the controller mapping being identical to Xbox console inputs. And, of course, once the Stadia is installed on the Nintendo Switch, a bunch of other AAA, non-Switch games – like Destiny 2 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – can be streamed to the system as well. It’s worth noting that while the Stage isn’t available directly on the Switch, Nintendo has released a few titles in the cloud, including IO Interactive’s Remedy Control and Hitman 3.

Cyberpunk 2077 was criticized after its release on December 10 for the multitude of bugs and errors, and the developer CD Projekt Red received a lot of heat because of it. A new PC, PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One patch aim to solve some of the game’s problems, with several updates planned for the coming months. However, CD Projekt Red is in hot water, as the publisher CD Projekt could watch a process of collective action due to the abysmal quality of the game.
